TCN announces 7 hour power outage in Abuja

On Saturday, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced a scheduled seven-hour power interruption in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The interruption is necessary for the TCN maintenance crew to conduct planned preventive maintenance on its 132/33kV 2X100MVA Power Transformers at the Apo Transmission Substation.

According to Ndidi Mbah, TCN General Manager of Public Affairs, the maintenance work is planned for both Saturday and Sunday, scheduled from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.

As a result, there will be a power outage affecting both transformers, and the Abuja distribution company (DisCo) will be unable to distribute power from these transformers to customers in areas including Garki, Asokoro, Lugbe, Airport Rd, Gudu, Gaduwa, parts of Lokogoma, Apo, Kabusa, Guzape, and Nepa Junction for a duration of seven hours.

Mbah assured that power supply will be restored on both days by 4 pm. The temporary interruption is part of the TCN’s efforts to conduct essential maintenance to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the power infrastructure in the region.
